It is so easy to get into a rut with your makeup and wear the same thing all day, everyday. January is the perfect time to give yourself a little kick start to try something new, so we’re here to help you mix up your makeup.
We’ve paired up with High Definition and their beautiful makeup to show you how to shake up your look with just a few simple tweaks.
Watch the full tutorial with High Definition’s celebrity makeup artist Rachael Keely as she and Imogen chat through some of the ways they are trying to change things up this January.
Rachael’s Makeup Mix Ups
Rachael shared a myriad of simple ways to shake up your usual beauty look this month. Make sure to watch the full tutorial for all the tips, but these are some of our favourites:
-
1.Add a little colour
5 Stars
1 Reviews£23.00Shop NowIf you usually stick to nudes and neutrals, experiment with a little colour. Rachael switched out Imogen’s usual natural smoky eye for a beautiful berry pop.
It still looks soft and pretty but adds a little extra punch. We are in love with all those beautiful pinks and purples!

2.Swap your Usual Liner for a Kajal
Shop NowA Kajal liner is an amazing way to add extra intensity to your eyes. Softer and more blendable than normal eyeliner, it gives beautiful, adaptable definition.
For an extra twist, try a brown instead of the usual black. It is a lovely way to blend the colour into your shadows, adding definition but not harsh contrast.

3.Eyes before Base
5 Stars
2 ReviewsShop NowIt feels natural to do your foundation and concealer as your first step, but Rachael advises you switch that up.
Keep any eye shadow fallout or smudged foundation at bay by doing your eyes and brows first, before buffing on a gorgeous natural finish foundation.

4.Switch out your Contour
£36.00Shop NowIf you’re getting into a habit of just wearing the same contour and highlight everyday, then Rachael recommends trying out a blush; blush is back!
Choose a colour that complements your eyeshadow colour (Rachael chose a beautiful peachy pink to pop against the berry shadows) and build up a soft glow onto the apples of the cheek. It looks fresh and pretty.

5.Use Colour to Plump your Lips
5 Stars
3 ReviewsShop NowIt might seem a little trendy, but lip contouring with your gloss or lipstick is actually one of the simplest ways to pump up the volume for your lips.
It is a small tweak but Rachael likes to use a deeper colour to line the lips and then fill in the centre with a lighter shade. It adds depth to your lips, making them look naturally full; just make sure to blend the two together for a gorgeous finish.
