Looking to spice up your look this weekend? We’ve put together the easy to follow, step by step tutorial on how to get this gorgeous, glam look as seen on Tara Maynard at the launch event for the new M.A.CStack Mascara including everything from how to create her vivid, violet eye look as well as how to apply the new mascara to achieve lashes to rival any extensions.
Get the look
Step 1: Primer
Create Tara’s lit-from-within glow by priming the skin with the M.A.C Strobe Cream. Using your finger tips, massage the cream into your face and neck to help even the skin tone and add radiance, nourishing your skin with antioxidants and moisture.
Step 2: Foundation
Using the M.A.C 190 Foundation Brush, apply the M.A.C Studio Face and Body Radiant Sheer Foundation (Tara uses shade C4), to your glowing base, starting at the middle of the face and blending outwards until you have a seamless finish.
Step 3: Concealer
Brighten the under eye area and disguise any blemishes or imperfections using the M.A.C Studio Finish Concealer (Tara uses shade NW30). Gently blend the concealer using the M.A.C 286 Duo Fibre Tapered Brush to get the same ‘I woke up like this look’ as Tara.
Step 4: Blush
Known for her colourful looks, Tara adds a splash of colour to her cheeks with the M.A.C Glow Play Blush in Grand. Blend the buildable powder into the apples of the cheeks using the M.A.C 159s Duo Fibre Blush Brush for a professional finish.
Step 5: Highlight
Get Tara’s sculpted look using the M.A.C Cream Colour Base in Shell. Apply the dewy formula to the areas that the sun would usually hit including the cheek bones, bridge of the nose and below the brows to accentuate your natural bone structure.
Step 6: Eyes
Tara creates her vibrant purple eye look using the M.A.C Art Library It’s Designer Palette, blending the shades Dark Room and Stary Night to achieve a glittery lilac finish.
Sticking to her colour theme, Tara uses the Dark Room shade to create a dramatic purple eyeliner. Mix the eye shadow powder with your Fix+ spray to create a liquid formula, then carefully apply the blend in a fine line on the eyelid using the M.A.C 210 Precise Eye Liner Brush, angling the wing up towards the outer tip of the eyebrow.
Putting the pièce de résistance to her eye look, Tara uses the new M.A.CStack Mascara to create her full, fluttery, photo-ready lashes. Offering buildable volume and length, the jet black mascara instantly enhances the lashes without any clumping, flaking or smudging and offers 24 hour wear, perfect for a night out.
Step 7: Brows
Tara shapes and sets her already full and fluffy brows using the M.A.C Clear Brow Set. To get her fluffy, on-point brows, use the spoolie to brush you brows upwards into their natural shape, moving the wand side to side slightly to capture every individual hair. The long-wear formula adds a subtle shine to your eyebrows, holding them in place without feeling stiff.
Step 8: Lips
Tara preps her lips for colour using the M.A.C Prep and Prime Lip. The conditioning formula is packed with anti-oxidants and hydrating ingredients that create a smooth base on the lips, helping to achieve an even and consistent finish.
To copy Tara’s popping pink lips, start by outlining the edges of the lips from corner to corner using the M.A.C Lip Pencil in Dervish. This will help to make the lips look thicker and plumper by adding depth. Fill in the lips using the M.A.C Cremesheen Pearl Lipstick in Nippon. Start at the corner of the mouth and glide the lipstick towards the middle of the lips, repeating the process on both sides, to ensure an even layer of colour.
Tara’s makeup hack: using either your finger or a brush, add a touch of your lip colour to the apple of your cheeks to make sure that your lips complement your complexion perfectly.
Tara finishes her look by adding natural looking faux freckles to her cheeks using the M.A.C Eyebrows Big Boost Exclusive Fibre Gel, dotting it on with the M.A.C 210 Precise Eye Liner Brush and blurring with finger tips.
